Education and Empowerment of Omani Nationals:

Education and empowerment play a critical role in today’s competitive world especially in the development of any community or nation. In line with this commitment, the subsidiaries of MB Holding Group have supported several initiatives that support and aid education and empowerment of its nationals.

Given the diverse, complex and competitive nature of the MB Group of Companies businesses coupled with its ambitious expansion plans over the next few years, the Group offers 'MB Leadership Development Programme' that aims to develop existing and emerging Leaders of its various business entities to deliver the company's long term business goals and aspirations.

Tatweer - The Graduate Development Programme is an example of MB Holding Company’s commitment towards training & development. Tatweer is a two year programme that provides on and off-the-job learning and development in the technical and non-technical disciplines. The objective of the programme is to enable the graduates to quickly develop the required knowledge and skills in the early stages of their career, and that allows them to assume an established role and contribute effectively to the business in the fastest possible time.

The MB Holding Group recently sponsored the 6th Exhibition which was held in SQU’s Cultural Centre Auditorium. The exhibition was inaugurated by His Excellency, Dr. Rasheed Al Huraibi, Chairman of the Tender Board followed by a Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) Engineering brief introduction by His Excellency Dr. Ali Al Bemani, Vice Chancellor – SQU. Hosted by the Engineering College, with participation from almost all GCC countries, Egypt and Jordan, the exhibition displayed R&D projects from all countries.

The company has also sponsored Oman Swimming Association, which falls within the broad category identified and finalized by the MB Holding Group towards corporate social responsibility in educating and empowering the Omani youth and supporting the community at large.

The MB Holding Group annually participates in the Sultan Qaboos University’s (SQU) Career & Training Opportunities Fair represented by its key subsidiaries MB Petroleum Services which provides integrated drilling and oilfield services, Petrogas E&P which is into exploration and production of oil & gas, United Engineering Services which provides oilfield, marine & defence engineering services and Mawarid Mining which is into mining and exploration. The aim is to source the best talent, train and retain them as well as fulfill our Omanisation requirements.

To guarantee a bright future for the large population of young people in the Sultanate of Oman, the MB Group of Companies has contributed extensively towards the establishment of a private university - the Sharqiya University in one of its regions of operation.

The MB Training Centre is a training facility for all MB Group companies' which helps in designing and delivering various training courses that enables relevant competencies to be developed depending on the business requirement.

Petrogas has offered RO12, 000 to the Association of Early Intervention for Children with Disability. This means that 4 children will be offered sponsorship for a period of one year. The service includes assessment, rehabilitation, kindergarten, portage programme, family support, community awareness, advocacy, capacity building and workshops supportive aids for children. These services are provided by an interdisciplinary team physiotherapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist and psychologist, home visitors and special education teachers.

Petrogas E&P has offered its support to Muscat Autism Centre by providing them with essentials commodities. It also annually conducts a fun day out for the children of Child Care Centre in the capital region. To encourage the Omani Youth and to inculcate a spirit of healthy competition and creative thinking, the company sponsored a photography competition held in conjunction with the Ministry of Higher Education apart from supporting Muscat Triathlon.

Modern College of Business Studies (MCBS) and Petrogas E&P LLC recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for five years. As part of this agreement, Petrogas will offer where appropriate an internship work for Petroleum Engineering (PE) final-year students.

United Engineering Services (UES) has commenced a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity with the Rehabilitation Centres in Al Khoud. UES has pledged two electrical wheelchairs, 20 regular wheel chairs, 20 walkers and 4 laptops across the two centres. Apart from that, the company lent its support to the Azaiba Health Centre in Muscat as well as initiated a drive safe campaign in Shumou’a Al Maarifa School in the interior region of the Sultanate.

Mawarid Mining LLC regularly conducts HSE courses within its premises to ensure greater understanding of the importance of safe working among its employees. In supporting communities within which it operates, the company recently offered a helping hand to the Oman Association for Disabled in Sohar by providing them with essential aids.

The MB Holding Group maintains a proactive attitude to its social commitment. Although the company lays heavy emphasis on preventive systems and business continuity processes. The MB team is prepared to respond to emergencies and exigencies that arise from systemic, human or natural causes. The company’s contingency plans allow it to respond quickly and effectively to mitigate and manage emergency situations. In case of natural disasters, like the 2007 Cyclone Gonu, the Group has been able to play a significant role in the recovery process for affected communities as well.

As part of its CSR policy, the company has initiated sustainable social projects in every country of operation. These initiatives are aimed at providing the quality of life, health, education and overall economic well-being of local communities. Many of these are meant to last well beyond the time period of the company’s operations. The projects are based on sound socio-economic data and range from educational scholarships and vocational training to sponsorship of social events and construction of infrastructure like roads and community centres.
